Mrs. Mary Elliott

Died: September 27, 1884     Burial No. 39

Our Mrs. Mary Elliott was educated and used her mathematical skills to obtain employment in positions usually held by men or their wives.  A lover of horses.  Mary enjoyed living and working at the Fort Reno Post.  Mary was shot and killed by a drunken soldier.  Many thought she was murdered because she insinuated the soldier was intimate with another woman.  Her husband Steve was an army ambulance driver.
