Hans Seifert

Jim Eischen as Hans Siefret on April 26, 2014

Died: October 9, 1945   Burial No. 3A

The only German held at the Fort Reno Prisoner of War Camp to die while in captivity was Hans Seifert.  Little is known about the life of Hans except that while here, he, like many of the German prisoners, worked as laborers for the Fort Reno Army Remount Station and for local farmers.  Hans died from burns received in a boiler explosion.  The remaining landmark of the POW Camp is a portion of the water tower located on the eastern edge of the Fort Reno property.
