Wee Gan Wah

Died: November 16, 1901    Burial No. 134

Wee Gan Wah was born in China in 1863. He immigrated to the United States in 1881, where he found work as a laundry man. He could not read or write, but could speak English. He lived with another Chinese man, the cook of the Fort, in the back of the laundry. On the night of November 14, 1901, two men dressed as women came to his door wanting to be let in. He refused. Roughly 30 minutes later, around 10 pm, the two men returned to the laundry where Mr. Wah was working and shot him. He was taken to the fort hospital where he later died from his wounds.
